Our experienced instructors will provide you with all the training and support you need to stay safe while enjoying the thrill of flying. As a student pilot (PG1), you will undergo practical and theoretical training with the goal of obtaining your supervised pilot (PG2) license by the end of the course, ensuring you have a fun, safe, and long flying career.

Is there a weight limitation when learning to fly?
The heaviest weight a person can train is 125kgs.
What does the 9 day course consist of?
Students are required to complete certain standards and requirements in order to obtain their PG2 license. Being able to control the paraglider on launch, during flight, and on landing are critical to enjoying this incredible sport safely and for a long time to come! Along with these practical requirements, there is approximately 20 hours of theory which will be covered in order for students to pass the theory examination. SEQ Paragliding aims to get you much more than the minimum requirements, so you that you come out of the course as a competent, confident and knowledgeable pilot.
What sites will we learn to fly?
Training is conducted at various sites around Sunshine Coast area. These sites include Point Cartwright – Mooloolabah, North End and Sunrise Beach – Noosa, Teewah – Teewantin, and Carlo Sandblow – Rainbow Beach, Gerrard’s Lookout – Maleny, Mt Widgee – Widgee. Use of these sites for training depends on the weather conditions for the day. Learning with SEQ Paragliding will mean that you will be exposed to inland mountainous conditions as well as coastal conditions, ensuring you get the most value out of your paragliding course.
Is there accommodation available?
Yes! We have a bunk room suited for students and pilots alike. Staying with us at the SEQ head quarters mean’s you’ll get the most out of your time with us, and travelling to flying sites each day becomes a much smoother logistical process. Please let us know if you’d like to reseve accommodation, as spots fill up quickly.
What do I need to do before getting my license?
You will need to join the SAFA (Sports Aviation Federation of Australia) before undertaking flight training. The 30 day SAFA Student Training Membership is $25 and can only be done online via the SAFA’s web site. After the completion of the course a full SAFA membership is necessary in order to get your PG2 license. The full annual 12 months membership is around $350 (pro rata) plus a state levy of $22 – $62 depending on the state you reside in.
The SAFA Student Membership is not included in the course tuition fee.
Club membership is also a requirement for you to fly the local sites. 1 month membership for the Sunshine Coast Sports Aviators costs $40 for 1 month, and $85 for 1 year. These costs go to keeping our sites open and maintained, also assist in opening future sites for us to fly! Your 1 month membership is included in your course fees. If you decide to continue flying at the beautiful sunshine coast, you will need the one year membership. This is not included in the course.
How do I secure my spot?
*All credit card and/or paypal payments including international bank transfers incur a credit card/bank processing fee.
What if I need to cancel?
License course cancellations are refunded in full, up to 1 week before the course. Past this time, a credit can be offered to a following course within 12 months of the initial course booking. Cancellations 1 week or less prior to the course start date are not refunded.
